Catherine Elizabeth Anderson Wed to Irving Carr, Jr.

The marriage of Catherine Elizabeth Anderson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas G. Anderson, 5101 Belmont avenue, and Irving J. Carr, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Irving J. Carr, 4157 Lyndale avenue S., took place Saturday at the Church of the Incarnation. A reception followed at the home of the bride's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John C. Sweet, 1912 Girard avenue S.

The bride's sister, Mrs. Sheldon Strong (Margaret Jane Anderson) Bethlehem, Pa., was matron of honor. Mrs. Neil Messick, Jr., (Mary Hart Anderson) and Peggy Carr, sister of the groom, were bridesmaids.

Conrad J. Carr was his brother's best man and ushers were Clarence Brandell and Dick Read, cousin of the groom.

On their return from a wedding trip Mr. Carr and his bride will be at home at 4157 Lyndale avenue S.

Carr, Catherine ("Kay") Anderson

of Edina, died peacefully surrounded by family at her winter home in Mazatlan, Mexico, on Feb. 20, 2015. Survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Irv Carr, sister Peg Strong, brother Douglas G. Anderson and daughtesr Holley Carr McCree, Katie (Pete) Prindle, Clare (Ken) Bills, Ceceilia (Terry) Kirihara, Patty (Wally) Orfield, Theresa (Erik) Carr, Caroline (Rich) Picone and Peggy Wolff in addition to her legacy of 26 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many other family and friends. Kay was born on March 19, 1929 to Douglas and Catherine Anderson and grew up in Michigan, but spend most of her life in Minneapolis where she raised her family. Kay was involved in countless ministries throughout her life, including Girl Scouts, Camp Courage and Stephen Ministries. She and her husband, Irv, also founded Mazatlan Charities and La Familia in Mexico to serve a community they loved dearly. Kay lived a beautiful life and will be remembered as a role model who quietly changed the world on soul at a time. Kay described her life as "an adventure." She was adored by all that knew her and will be greatly missed. First visitation on March 5, 2015, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Funeral mass to be held March 7, 2015, 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior. Luncheon will follow. All events at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Parish, 5071 Eden Ave., Edina. Memorials preferred to Mazatlan Charities: c/o Katie Prindle, 18226 Wellington Av, Prior Lake, MN 55372.

Carr, Irving died 5/11/20 at the age of 96. Preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Kay. Lived in Edina, MN as well as Minong, WI and Mazatlan, MX for many years. Survived by 8 daughters, Holley McCree, Katie Prindle (Pete), Clare Bills (Ken), Cecelia Kirhara (Terry), Patty Orfield (Wally), Theresa Carr (Erik Travis), Caroline Picone (Rich), Peggy Wolff; and 3 siblings Conrad Carr of Bloomington, MN, Kitty Waters and Peggy Lucas of Tucson AZ; 26 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.

Irv served in the Navy during WW2 on the SS Sarita. He was a district manager for Farmers Insurance for many years and owned several drive ins.

His passions were bridge, tennis, playing the trombone in various bands, cooking for family and his Catholic faith. He was one of the founders of the La Familia community center in Mexico. He loved people! He loved life. Mass of Christian Burial will be held July 23 at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Grace Church in Edina. It will be lived streamed and available to view for 2 weeks after the funeral at olgparish.org.
