JAMES BALLOU, son of HANNAH PIKE and MATURIN BALLOU, was born about 1652 in Louisquisset, Providence, Rhode Island, and died about 1741 in Smithfield, Providence, Rhode Island.

He married SUSANNA WHITMAN on July 25, 1683, daughter of MARY and VALENTINE WHITMAN. She was born February 28, 1658/1659 in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island, and died about 1725 in Smithfield, Providence, Rhode Island.
