Ruth Elizabeth Blaisdell, 95, of Dallas, TX
Ruth Elizabeth Blaisdell, 95, went to be with her Lord and Savior, on Sept. 6, 2013, in Dallas, Texas, after having cancer. Ruth was a beautiful woman inside and out. She was selfless, kindhearted, kind spirited, always of good cheer and wit, and full of wisdom. Most of all, she was the consummate mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Ruth and her twin sister, Esther, were born to parents Oscar and Ruth Thoe, on Aug. 18, 1918. At age 3, the twins became ill and Esther died. Ruth’s parents credited chiropractic medicine for saving Ruth’s life. Consequently her father became a chiropractor, setting up his medical practice in Kasson, Minn.. Ruth graduated from Kasson High School. In a few years she met the love of her life, Garth Blaisdell, whom she married on Sept. 17, 1940. They raised three children: Linda, Julie and Jeff, and resided in Faribault all of their married life.
Ruth was primarily a homemaker, but held three notable jobs, that of: Society Editor of the Faribault Daily News, Medical Receptionist; and Residential Realtor. She had countless interests and talents. She loved to sew, quilt, knit, and crochet. She was an oil painter and gardener. She loved to play bridge and she played golf well into her 90’s. She loved her church in Faribault, the Cathedral of Our Merciful Saviour, where she served in various capacities.
Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Garth Blaisdell; her daughter, Linda Smith; her parents, Oscar and Ruth Thoe; her twin sister, Esther Thoe; her sister, Francis Osborne; and her brother, Fred Thoe.
Ruth is survived by: her children, Julie Beale and husband Craig , and son, Jeff Blaisdell and wife, Lucette; her grandchildren: Sarah Stewart and husband, Chad; Ben Smith and wife, Cynthia; Valerie Perkins and husband, Tom; Christine Blaisdell and husband, Ryan McDowell; Evan Beale and wife, Amy; and Ashley Morriss and husband, Marcus. Twelve beautiful great grandchildren also survive her.
A memorial service will be held in the Wynne Chapel at Highland Park Presbyterian Church, Dallas, Texas, on Saturday, October 12, 2013, at 11 a.m. Officiating the service will be Rev. Joseph Rightmyer.
Inurnment will be at The Cathedral of Our Merciful Saviour, Faribault.
