PVT. R. DONALD BOYER

Pvt. R. Donald Boyer, son of Mrs. Sallie Stiles Boyer, 332 West jackson street, was killed in action in France Oct. 19, according to a telegram from the War Department received by his mother Tuesday night. Pvt. Boyer was graduated from the William Penn Senior High School, class of 1939, and from Penn State School of Engineering, where he was a member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. He belonged to the Christ Lutheran church. Inducted Dec. 21, 1943, he received training at Fort McClellan, Ala., and Fort Meade, Md., before leaving for duty overseas the latter part of June. He was attached to the 79th Infantry division. Prior to entering the Army he was employed by the Glenn L. Martin company, Baltimore. Besides his mother, Pvt. Boyer is survived by three brothers, Cpl. Leonard Boyer, somewhere in the Southwest Pacific; Harold Boyer, U. S. Maritime Station, Brooklyn, N. Y., and Wade Boyer, at home.
