Dr. Merlyn Bush Call, 54, prominent Greene physician, died Wednesday at 5 p. m. at Mercy hospital, Waverly, following a several months' illness, during which he had received care also at the Iowa City hospital.
Dr. Call had practiced in Greene since 1912, and for several years was president of the Greene Library association.
Born June 30, 1883, at Iowa City, Dr. Call graduated from liberal arts college, University of Iowa, in 1905 and for three years taught science at Red Oak and Waterloo high schools. In 1908 he entered the school of medicine at Iowa university, and following graduation in 1911 interned a year at Iowa City before beginning his Greene practice.
He married Eleanor McNeely in September, 1913, at Cedarvale, Kan. Dr. Call, active in all community projects, was past master of the Masonic lodge.
Surviving are his widow and a brother, Roy Call, Portland, Ore.
Funeral services Saturday at 10 a. m. at his home will be under the auspices of the Masonic order, with Rev. F. A. Munneke officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery. The body is at the Watterson funeral home.

Mrs. Eleanor McNeely Call, daughter of William and Sarah Ann Houston McNeely, was born September 19, 1884 at Marshall, Missouri, and passed away suddenly at her home in Greene, Iowa, on Thursday, September 7, 1950. She had reached the age of 65 years, 11 months, and 18 days. She was one of eleven children, two of whom died in infancy.
Mrs. Call spent four years in the home of an uncle and aunt in Burlington, while attending the Burlington high school. After graduation from high school, she attended the University of Iowa. Following her graduation from the University, she pursued the teaching profession for several years.
She was united in marriage to Dr. N. B. Call on September 10, 1913, and they made their home in Greene. He preceded her in death in July, 1937.
Mrs. Call had been a piano teacher for many years in Greene, and showed a special interest in young people. A great lover of music, she contributed much to the organizations to which she belonged.
Mrs. Call was an active member of the P. E. O., the Women's club, the Apollo club, and the University Women's club.
She leaves to mourn her passing three sisters, Mrs. Bertha Kirby, Cedar Vale, Kansas; Mrs. Blanche Ragsdale, San Marino, California; and Miss Bess McNeely of Seattle, Washington; five brothers, C. H. McNeely, San Marino, California; W. D. McNeely, Quinlan, Oklahoma, Charles G. McNeely, LaGrange, Wyoming; John A. McNeely, Seattle, Washington; and Paul P. McNeely, also of Seattle; nine nieces and nephews and a large circle of friends.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, September 11, from Watterson Funeral Home, with Rev. G. F. Butler officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery.
