Thees-Chaddock Wedding Vows Spoken In Methodist Church at Jeffersonville

In a setting of white gladioli, Kentia palms, Boston ferns and white candelabra, Miss Joanne Thees became the bride of John Andrew Chaddock in a formal double-ring ceremony in the Wall Street Methodist Church in Jeffersonville, Ind. The vows were heard at 2:30 o'clock by the Reverend Frank Templin. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Ahrens Thees of Jeffersonville and Mr. Chaddock is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry M. Chaddock, 44 Warwick Rd.

Before the ceremony a recital of bridal melodies was played by Mrs. Greta Seifried, organist. Phil Silvers was the vocalist.

The bride chose her sister, Miss Mary Dawn Thees for her maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Carolyn Ogden of Jeffersonville, Miss Ina Mae Girod of Bluffton, Ind., college friend of the bride, and Mrs. Aubrey A. Crawford of Kinsmen, Ohio. Miss Sue McNaughton, of Washington, a cousin of the bride, was junior bridesmaid.

Harry M. Chaddock, father of the bridegroom served as best man. Russell White of Washington, William Ward, Tom Steck, and Pete Pasotti ushered guests to their seats.

The bride was escorted to the altar and given in marriage by her father, Benjamin A. Thees. Her gown was fashioned of bridal blush pink slipper satin with off-the-shoulder neckline with a bias roll. The bodice was long and molded, and the full, gathered skirt fell into a court train. She wore a single strand of pearls which was a gift of the bridegroom and carried an heirloom handkerchief which belongs to Mrs. Charles Leonard of Hartford City. White satin opera pumps completed her costume. A cloche cap of chantilly lace held in place her fingertip length veil of illusion.

She carried a bridal arrangement with a white orchid center surrounded by gardenias and stephanotis backed by white tulle.

Miss Mary Dawn Thees was her sister's maid of honor. She wore a gown of American beauty net nylon over pink taffeta. The dress was finished with an off-the-shoulder neckline and sheered bodice with a full gathered skirt over a hoop. Her headpiece was of the sheered nylon and she wore a single strand of pearls and pearl bracelet, which was a gift of the bride. Her bouquet was of pink Esther Reed daisies and Plumosa backed with pink tulle.

The bridesmaids wore gowns fashioned like that of the maid of honor in two shades of pink. Their flowers were American beauty shade in arrangements similar to that carried by the maid of honor.

The boutonnieres of the men in the bridal party were white carnations.

Mrs. Thees wore an aqua crepe dress fashioned with jewel neckline and long sleeves. She wore a black felt tricorne hat and other accessories of black. Her corsage was of pink chrysanthemums.

Mrs. Chaddock was attired in a gray taffeta two-piece dress trimmed with a design of cut steel beads on the lapels and pocket flaps. The dress had long sleeves, V-neckline and a pencil slim skirt. With this she wore a mauve fur-felt hat, matching kid gloves and a pink chrysanthemum shoulder corsage.

The Colonial Manor in New Albany, Ind., was the setting for the reception. White gladioli were used in decorating the entertaining rooms. Mrs. D. C. Hart, Louisville, Ky.; Mrs. L. M. McNaughton, Washington, Ind., and Mrs. C. L. Holmes, Columbus, Ohio, assisted at the reception.

The couple left for a wedding trip to Niagara Falls after the reception. For traveling, the bride wore a black silk shantung dress trimmed in black velvet, with a black velvet jacket, hat and purse. She wore pearls and a white orchid. Her shoes were black suede.

After Sept. 12, the couple will be at home at 9 Lorraine St., in Mapleridge.

The bride is well-known in this city. She is a senior at Ball State College and a member of Alpha Sigma Tau sorority Spotlight Theatre, Girls' Club, Ball State Choir and Music Club. She is also a member of Tri Kappa and Sigma Alpha Iota, music honorary.

Mr. Chaddock is a member of the younger social set in this city. He was graduated from Burris High School and is attending Ball State College where he is a member of Alpha Phi Omega fraternity, Spotlight Theatre and Ball State Choir. Last year he was a student in the radio department of the Cincinnati College of Music.

John "Jack" A. Chaddock, 85, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away at 5:20 p.m., Monday, April 11, 2016, at Newburgh Health Care.

Jack was born in Muncie, Ind., on September 12, 1930, the son of Harry M. and Helen (Bowers) Chaddock. After High School, he attended Ball State University and University of Cincinnati. In 1950, he married his sweetheart, Joanne Thees and they shared 66 years together. In his career, Jack wore many hats; he was a sales representative for a national company, founder and first executive director of Junior Achievement of Southwestern Indiana, Knight Township Trustee (9 ?) years) and real estate professional since 1975, retiring from Tucker & Emge Real Estate. He was also involved in many organizations; one of the founders and first president of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Evansville, first male president of Harrison High School PTA, past president of Evansville Board of Realtors, Indiana Association of Realtors, Evansville Goodwill Industries, Newburgh Town Council, past member of Evansville Rotary Club, National Association of Realtors, Evansville Boys Club, WNIN-TV Auctions, and Historic Newburgh, INC. Jack also received many awards; Evansville Realtor of the Year in 1982, Exchange Club Book of Golden Deeds Award in 1987, Indiana Honor Realtor 1985 to 1990, and received the honor of being named a "Sagamore of the Wabash" by Governor Robert Orr in 1986. He was a commissioned lay pastor at First Presbyterian Church of Mount Vernon, Indiana.

Jack enjoyed many things; camping, TV Commercials, auctioneering for non-profit organizations,various volunteer work in the community and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Joanne; children, Pam Doerter (Bill) and John Chaddock (Lisa), all of Evansville; grandchildren, Katie Chandler (Dane), Max Doerter (Mindi), Lana Ballard (Roger), Nick Doerter, Casey Doerter, Drew Chaddock, Hannah Chaddock and Lacey Chaddock; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Dianne Chaddock Middendorf.

A Service of Witness to the Resurrection will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2016, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel - A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Ave., Evansville, with the Reverend Dr. Dennis Davenport officiating. Burial will be private in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may visit from 4 until 7 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2016, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
