Miss Mary Patricia Williams became the bride of George Marsh Chapman, Apr. 28 as the rites were read in St. Margaret's Episcopal church, Washington, D. C. Miss Williams is the daughter of Mrs. Fred Bonner Dechant of Washington, D. C., and Edward V. Williams of Richmond, and Mr. Chapman is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Prichard Chapman of Washington.
Tall cathedral candles lighted the church whil white lilacs, on a background of palms, formed the setting for the single ring service which was read by Dr. Armand T. Eyler.
The bride was given in marriage by her uncle, William I. Votaw of New York City. Her gown of white satin, fashioned with a fitted bodice, was styled with a high round neck and a yoke of chiffon which was fastened to the satin with embroidered flowers embellished with seed pearls. The long tight sleeves ended in points, and the full skirt swept into a long train. A Mary-Queen-of-Scots cap held her veil of illusion in place and she carried a bouquet of gardenias and white lilacs.
Mrs. David F. Todd, sister of the bride, was her only attendant. She was gowned in peach lace, wore a coronet of Johanna Hill roses, and carried a bouquet of the same flowers interspersed with delphinium.
The bridegroom's father served as best man and ushers were lt. David F. Todd of Aberdeen, Md., and Lt. James O'Neil of Washington.
Following the ceremony a reception was held in the Chinese room of the Mayflower hotel.
Mrs. Chapman attended Westtown school, graduated from Morton High school in 1937, attended Earlham college and was graduated from Washington School for Secretaries.
Mr. Chapman, who recently returned from a year's mission in Bolivia for the government, was graduated from Kent school in Connecticut an[d] the Colorado School of Mines. He is affiliated with the Metals Reserve corporation of the Department of Commerce as a mining engineer.
Mr. and Mrs. Chapman will make their home at present in Deadwood, S. Dak., where the bridegroom will continue his work.
