Cecil J. Cooney

Nov. 28, 1906—Oct. 6, 1991

LEBANON — Cecil J. Cooney, 84, died Sunday.

He was born in Mayetta Kan., and had lived in Lebanon since 1948.

He married Lela Nott on Sept. 19, 1929, in Westmoreland, Kan.

He worked for Cascade Plywood and the city of Lebanon, retiring in 1977. He enjoyed traveling and gardening.

Survivors include his wife; sons, Jack of Vancouver, Wash., and Kenneth of Eugene; brothers, Leo of Kansas and Joe of Arkansas; five grandchidlren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Huston mortuary. Vault interment will follow at the Lebanon Odd Fellows Cemetery. Visiting will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today in the mortuary.

Lela Mae Cooney

Lela Mae Cooney, 92, a longtime Lebanon resident, died Monday, Nov. 4, at Sheldon Park Assisted Living Facility in Eugene.

Funeral services were held Nov. 9 at Huston-Jost Funeral Home. Vault interment took place at Lebanon I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

She was born Nov. 13, 1909, in Soldier, Kan., the daughter of Alba and Ulva (Bean) Nott. She was raised in Kansas. She was a homemaker in Holton, Kan., where she raised her two children.

On Sept. 19, 1929, she married Cecil J. Cooney in Westmoreland, Kan.

They moved to Lebanon in 1948. She worked as a seamstress for 24 years at NuWay and Johanson's Cleaners. In 1973, she and her husband built a new house along the canal in Lebanon.

He died in 1991.

Mrs. Cooney is survived by sons Kenneth Cooney of Eugene and Jack Cooney of Vancouver, Wash.; brother Dick Nott of Branson, Mo.; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
