Portage County, Ohio, October 15, 1832
In the name of God, amen, I Jeremiah Cranmer of Northfield, Portage County and Stae of Ohio, do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say:
First it is my will that my funeral expenses and all my just debts be fully paid.
Second I give, demise and bequeath to my beloved wife Hannah Cranmer in lieu of her dower, one third of seventy one acres of land situate in Northfield aforesaid, all of my household furniture, one cow, one yoke of oxen, together with one plow, one harness and one legchain, which said property is to be selected by said wife Hannah, and by her held during her natural life.
Third I give and demise to my eldest daughter Esther Wood from the remaining of said land, six acres fifty two hundredths of an acre (6 52/100 acres) and to her heirs and assignees forever.
Fourth I give and demise to my third daughter Hannah Stanly, of my said land, six acres fifty two hundredths of an acre (6 52/100 acres) and to her heirs and assignees forever.
Fifthly I give and demise the remaining thirty four acres twenty nine hundredths of an acre, of land aforesaid to my seven remaining children, viz. Jeremiah Cranmer Jr, David Cranmer, Abraham B. Cranmer, Nancy Ames, Eunice Clifford, Roxanna Piles, and Sarah Johnston, to be divided equally and to their heirs and assignees forever.
Sixthly I give and demise to my son Morris (by a former wife) one dollor to be paid from my personal property and to his proper use.
Seventhly, should any of my personal property remain (which is not heretofore willed) after paying my just debts and funeral expenses I give and demise to my nine first named children to be divided equally amongst them.
And lastly I do hereby constitute and apppoint Abraham Cranmer and Henry Wood of Northfield aforesaid to be the executors of this my last will and testament, revoking and annulling all former wills by me made, and ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty second day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty one.
Signed, published and declared by the above named Jeremiah Cranmer as and for his last will and testament, in presence of us, who at his request have signed as witnesses to the same this day and year last above written.
