Mr. and Mrs. Tam Deering announce the engagement of their elder daughter, Cleona, to Kenneth Norman Bracken of Detroit, son of Mr. and Mrs. Norma A. Bracken of Alexandria, Pa.
Miss Deering has many friends in Cincinnati where her father is recreation director of the city and her mother is prominent in civic and club work. Miss Deering attended the university for two years following her first year at Reed College in Portland, Ore. She has been in Michigan for several years, part of the time at Ashland Folk College in Grant.
Following her work at Ashland College, Miss Deering entered the field of bacteriology with the Michigan State Board of Health in Grand Rapids. Trained in X-ray, she has found her real interest in the bacteriological laboratory and has been employed for the past two years in that division of the Harper Hospital in Detroit.
While in Cincinnati, Miss Deering served with the Red Cross in the last two major floods. The organized a unit in the West End in the first flood and served at the California station, two years ago.
Mr. Bracken has been established in business in Detroit for a period of years. He and his bride-elect have decided to continue in their chosen fields of work following their wedding, which is to take place in June.

Mr. and Mrs. Tam Deering of Cincinnati announce the marriage of their daughter, Cleona, to Mr. Kenneth Norman Bracken, which took place last Saturday evening, June 10, at St. John's Episcopal Church, Detroit, Mich., with Dr. Brown, assistant director of the church, officiating.
The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, was lovely in a gown of Alice-blue chiffon with a basque of lace, a tiny turban, and long veil. She carried no bouquet, but instead wore a corsage of orchids.
The only attendants were Miss Josephine Kreiner, maid of honor, who wore a gown of soft rose with a bouquet of pink blossoms, and the best man was Mr. Joseph Cherry.
After the ceremony a reception was held at the church, after which the bridal party went to the Russian Bear for supper.
The mother of the bride, Mrs. Tam Deering, was gowned in powder-blue picked out in white, while the groom's mother, Mrs. Norman A. Bracken, wore a frock of dark blue lace.
