Mrs. Arthur Austin, 70, an invalid, died Sunday night when an oil space heater exploded and flames swept the small frame cottage she occupied at Ladysmith with her husband.
Mrs. Austin, the former Myrtle Dunham, was a native of Rhinelander. She attended high school here, graduating in 1898.
Austin, 83, was able to shove the stove from their home, but flames blocked his attempt to reenter and help his paralyzed wife, the Associated Press reported. Austin was treated a a hospital for shock.
