CHARLES SCHROEDER DDS

Charles Schroeder, DDS, MPH, 80, passed away December 19, 2001, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Olathe, KS. A private memorial service will be held for family members. His cremains will be interred in Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, D.C.

Charles was born in Kansas City, MO on January 28, 1921. He was a graduate of Northeast High School, class of 1939 and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1948. He attended graduate school at the University of Kansas City graduating with a Doctorate in Dental Surgery in 1951. He received his Masters in Public Health in 1971 from Loma Linda University and completed a 1 year residency in dental public health at the Colorado Department of Public Health the following year. He was certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Public Health in 1977.

Charles practiced dentistry as a private practitioner in Missouri and Colorado, and taught dentistry at the University of Missouri at Kansas City School of Dentistry and at Oral Roberts University School of Dentistry. He then served as Dental Director of the Oklahoma Department of Corrections until his retirement in 1992.

Charles served honorably in the United States Navy during World War II and in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Schroeder in September 1999. He is survived by his two sons, Eric Schroeder, MD of Olathe, KS and Mark Schroeder, MD of Liberty, MO; two sisters, Ann Malone of Denver, CO and Catherine Siron of Rayton, MO; a brother, Edward Schroeder of Kansas City, MO; and four grandchildren.

The family suggests contributions to Guide Dogs for the Blind.
