Freeman-Ray Nuptial Vows To Be Said Today

Wedding vows will be exchanged by Miss Laura Jean Ray and William D. Freeman at 11 o'clock this morning in St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Msgr. Clement Bosler will officiate at the double-ring ceremony.

Parents of the bridal couple are Mr. and Mrs. Paul Vincent Ray, 4330 Washington Boulevard, and Mr. and Mrs. Warren D. Freeman, 146 East 19th Street.

Bridal attendants will include Mrs. Thomas K. Atkins and John Carey, honor attendants, and Mesdames Martin Dragon, Dale Morey and Miss Alice Greene, the latter of Morion, bridesmaids. They will enter in lovely gowns of emerald green and American Beauty red velvet with jackets and ballerina skirts. They will carry white muffs adorned with holly and wear small hats designed to match their gowns.

The bride, who will be given in marriage by her uncle, Leo Mormeno, will wear a gown of pure white satin accented by a floral motif of beads and pearls. Her full pleated skirt extends into a chapel train. She will wear a silk illusion veil attached to a matching lace hat, and both sprinkled with sequins and pearls.

In the bridal bouquet will be an orchid and lilies of the valley.

Mary Ann Murphy, flower girl, will be dressed in a white lace frock.

Warren C. Freeman of Lafayette will be his brother's best man. Ushers will be Don Hunter, Phillip Stahl, Charles Murphy and Vincent Beyer. The wedding breakfast and reception will be held in the Columbia Club.

After a wedding trip to Miami Beach, Fla., the couple will reside at 1927 East 38th Street.

Laura Jean Ray Freeman

73, of Indianapolis, entered into rest on Tuesday, March 23, 2024. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She attended Butler University and for many years was active in the local amateur theatre scene and Starlight Musicals. She worked for a time at WFBM Television.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, William D. Freeman; sons Paul W. (Jo Eva), William R. (Suzanne) and Vince (Sue) Freeman; and six grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 27 at Christ the King Catholic Church, of which she was a member. Preceded by visitation at the church at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. Friday visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. at Feeney-Hornak Keystone Mortuary (71st at Keystone). Interment will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to St. Jude's Children Hospital or to Christ the King Church.

87, of Indianapolis, passed away on July 17, 2016. He was born December 13, 1928 in Indianapolis, IN the son of the late Warren and Irene Freeman.

Bill was in auto sales with Shadeland Dodge for 23 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, graduated from Cathedral High School and attended St. Joseph College.

He is survived by sons: Paul W. (Jo Eva), William R. (Suzanne) and Vince (Sue) Freeman, sister Virginia Murphy, 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years: Laura Jean (Ray) Freeman in March of 2004, his sister: Charlotte Beyer and brother: Warren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 23rd, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church with visitation from 10:100 a.m. until time of Mass.
