GOLD BEACH—Funeral services were held her today for Mrs. Leona Dare Hickok, 75, prominent and long-time resident who died after a heart attack Sunday night.
Services were at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Gold Beach, the Rev. Mr. Hartness officiating. Cooper's Mortuary handled arrangements.
Mrs. Hickok and her husband Ruben James Hickok, who survives and to whom she was married for 55 years, had owned and operated the Gold Beach Hotel since moving to Gold Beach in 1930.
She was active in community affairs as long as her health permitted and was a member of Eastern Star and Rebekah Lodge.
Mrs. Hickok was born in Amery, Wis., July 17, 1880. She and Mr. Hickok developed a homestead claim in Zillia, Wash., from sagebrush into orchard land. They sold the ranch when they moved to Gold Beach.
Survivors also include a daughter Mrs. Harvey Crook of Pistol River; two sons, Loyd A. of Portland and Ralph M. of Gold Beach; four grandsons, William and Ronnie of Pistol River and Lloyd Jr. and Jerry of Portland, and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral for Reuben Hickok, 1906 N. E. 59th avenue, will be Tuesday at 11 a. m. at the Community Presbyterian church in Gold Beach. Interment will be at Gold Beach cemetery.
Mr. Hickok died Wednesday at a local nursing home. He was born February 1, 1880, in Nebraska. He homesteaded near Zillah, Wash., in 1900 and married Leona D. Durham the same year. She died in 1956 at Gold Beach.
In 1930 Mr. Hickok moved to Gold Beach where he was in the retail grocery business and operated the Gold Beach hotel and the Hickok building. He was a member of the Gold Beach school board for 15 years.
Mr. Hickok was past master of Gold Beach lodge No. 199, AF&AM, past noble grand of Roosevelt lodge IOOF and a patron of Eastern Star No. 161 and Rebecca's. He also was master of his masonic lodge in Zillah.
He is survived by two sons, Lloyd A. Sr., Portland, and Ralph M., Gold Beach; a daughter, Mrs. Awilda Crook, Pistol River; four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
