Nathan Horner was another early settler coming probably as soon as 1840; certainly before the township organization took place. He was one of the board of township officers when the permanent organization was effected and has held the office of justice of the peace and other official positions. In the summer of 1844 he was elected county commissioner, taking the place of John Wasson at the time of his closed term in Oct. 1844. He served until 1847, when he in course, was superceded by Amos Hart, who served until the fall of 1850. Mr. Horner is not now living in the township, whether he died there or removed to other parts, is to this writer unknown.
