SUNNYVALE COUPLE QUIETLY MARRIED

Donald R. McNair and Miss Pearl Huston United in Marriage at San Francisco

SUNNYVALE Jan. 24—A quiet wedding took place last Friday at high noon at the Hamilton M. E. church, San Francisco, when Donald R. McNair and Miss Pearl Huston, two of Sunnyvale's popular young people, were united in marriage, by Dr. C. W. Wise. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. D. Huston, parents of the bride, accompanied the young couple to San Francisco and were present at the wedding ceremony, after which the party motored to Alameda where a 2 o'clock lunch was served at the residence of the bride's cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Will Emmons, nee Florence Huston, at 3234 Sterling avenue. Upon their return to Sunnyvale that evening a very pleasant surprise was tendered the newlyweds in the nature of a house part in their honor, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Hurst. Dinner was served at 8 o'clock, the following friends being present: Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence J. Abel, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel J. Handy, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Hurst, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Manard, Mr. Albert Swanson, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Ware and Mr. and Mrs. L. T. White. Although the day of the wedding was supposed to be kept a secret, yet enough of their friends learned of the event in time to give them a rousing reception.

Mr. McNair is the youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James McNair of Sunnyvale, and a brother of Mrs. C. A. Porter on the Saratoga road and of Capt. J. D. McNair, chaplain of the U. S. naval training station at Philadelphia, Pa. After his graduation from the University of the Pacific at San Jose, Mr. McNair accepted his present position with the Standard Oil company. He also served 21 months in the world war, as a private at the Presidio, corporal at Fort Mason, San Francisco, sergeant at Camp Kearny and second lieutenant at Camp Hancock, Augusta, Ga., where he was an instructor at the machine gun training center. The bride is a native of Santa Clara county and has been residing with her parents who are pioneer residents of Sunnyvale. During the last year she has held a responsible position with the Sunnyvale Pharmacy. The newlyweds are now comfortably established in their home on Arques street, and a host of friends join in offering best wishes and prosperity that they so richly merit.
