Grace W. Jessop, 76

Funeral services for Grace W. Jessop, 76, of Petoskey, will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Petoskey. Rev. Robert Kyser will officiate and interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Miss Jessop died April 19 at the Porter Hills Presbyterian Retirement Home in Grand Rapids.

She was born April 4, 1902 in Detroit and moved to Petoskey with her family at a young age. She attended and graduated from Petoskey High School in 1920. Miss Jessop then attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio where she received her life teaching certificate and librarian certificate.

Miss Jessop taught elementary school in Rogers City, Kalkaska and Port Huron. She later became the librarian at the Petoskey Public Library, a position she held for many years.

Miss Jessop was very civic minded and was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Petoskey where she sang in the choir for many years.

She was a world traveler and had made many trips sponsored by the Presbyterian denomination. She had traveled to India, Europe, Korea, the Holy Land and most recently to Alaska.

Miss Jessop had been a resident of Petoskey until 1976 when she moved to Grand Rapids and lived at the Porter Hills Presbyterian Retirement Home.

Survivors include two cousins, Allan McCune and Dr. William McCune, both of Petoskey; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Stone Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight.
