DEATH COMES TO GOOD WOMAN

MRS. DONALD F. McLENNAN PASSES AWAY AT BAKERSFIELD FOLLOWING OPERATION FOR GOITER

Mrs. Donald F. McLellan, of Bakersfield, daughter of Mrs. G. W. Pickering of Escondido Valley, died at Mercy hospital, Bakersfield, at 3:30 Friday morning, November 26, following an operation for goiter of the neck. The best of surgical attention and care were provided, but owing to the nature of the case, a re-action occurred which resulted fatally. She was 36 years of age.

Mrs. McLennan was for a number of years a resident of Escondido and has a great many friends among those who have resided here the past twelve or fourteen years. While a resident here, she was prominent in music and home talent theatricals, also active in Congregational work.

A native of Illinois, Mrs. McLennan's maiden name was Belle Lester. She came here in 1913, to make her home with Mr. and Mrs. Pickering. It was in 1915 that she was married to Donald F. McLennan, son of Mrs. Sue McLennan of this valley. For the past six years the D. F. McLennans have resided at Bakersfield, where Mr. McLennan has a ranch. They visited here at frequent intervals. The deceased leaves a husband, two little sons, aged 8 and 6 years, respectively; also her step-father and mother and mother-in-law, all of Escondido; also one sister, Miss Olive Lester, of Hanford, and one brother, Alvin Lester, of West Chicago, Ill.

Many Escondido people will feel deep sorrow as a result of Mrs. McLennan's passing away, and extend sincere sympathy to the relatives.

Funeral services will be held in Bakersfield, after which the body will be brought to Escondido for interment. A service will be held here, Monday afternoon at two o'clock, at the Hal F. Johnson chapel. Rev. W. A. Schwimley, pastor of the Congregational church, will be in charge. Burial will be made at Oak Hill cemetery.
