Warren M. Miller Jr., 89, of Green, formerly of Ellet, passed away April 30, 2012.
Warren was born July 16, 1923 in Spokane, Washington. After his father passed away in 1929, he moved with his mother and siblings to Mooseheart, The Child City, in Mooseheart, Illinois where he lived until enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served his country in World War II, fighting in the South Pacific and Japan. He was wounded on the island of Iwo Jima and awarded the Purple Heart. Warren loved his country and was proud to be an American. Every day after moving to the Greenview Assisted Living Facility, where he resided for the past year and half, he would stop at the U. S. flag on his way to breakfast and say the Pledge of Allegiance. In 2010, he had the privilege of taking the Honor Flight for Veterans to Washington D.C.
After the war, he moved to the Akron area where he met and married his loving wife Elizabeth (Betty). On March 23rd they celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary. Warren was a sheet metal worker by trade and worked over 40 years for Bellows Sign Company. Warren and Elizabeth raised their two children, Warren and Pam, while living in Ellet. They enjoyed many happy years taking cruises and traveling the country he loved so dearly. He also loved golfing with his friends and family, watching football, and he especially loved ballroom dancing with the love of his life. He was a member of the Moose and a life member of teh Mooseheart Alumni Association adn the DAV.
Warren was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His family meant the world to him, and they were blessed to have him in their lives for so long. He was immensely loved and will be deeply missed.
he was preceded in death by parents, Warren M. Miller Sr. and Charlet Miller; sisters, Larre Baker, Jean Barett adn Kay Causman; daughter-in-law, MaryAnn Miller. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; son, Warren (Kathy) Miller III and daughter, Pamela (Bill) Wolfe; seven grandchildren, Shannon (Winston) Collins, Warren (Bryn) Miller IV, Allison (Nelson) Ventura, Scott (Stephanie) Thompson, Jeff (Sarah) Thompson, Mark (Nichola) Thompson, Laura (Dan) FLeury; 10 great-grandchildren, Meredeth Collins, Warren Miller V, Isabella Ventura, Emma Thompson, Matthew Thompson, Ashley Thompson, Stella Thompson, Zachary Thompson, Jack fleury, Will Fleury; brother and sister-in-law, Louis and Gloria Miller; several nieces and nephews; the Dromire family, and the family of Augustus and Clementine Hall.
