JOSHUA MORRIS GIVES UP FIGHT

Brother of Douglas Morris Succumbs After a Herois Battle Against Inevitable End.

HAD RUGGED CONSTITUTION.

New Castle, Ind., July 23.—Joshua I. Morris, 62 years old, vice president of the first National Bank of this city since 1905, died today at noon at his home on South Fourteenth street. Mr. Morris had been in poor health for the last twenty years, but a rugged constitution and a strong will power anabled hime to stave off death.

Mr. Morris was a native of Henry county and had spent all of his life here. Ex-Judge Douglass Morris of Rushville and A. O. Morris and Mrs. Elizabeth Heritage of Knightstown are brothers and sister.

In November, 1882, Mr. Morris was elected auditor of Henry county and continued in this capacity for two terms of four years each.

A daughter, Miss Blanch Morris, and her mother survive. Mr. Morris was active in the affairs of the Republican party. He was a member of the Presbyterian church and a Scottish Rite Mason.

FUNERAL OF MRS. MORRIS

Burial of Woman Well Known Here Takes Place at Knightstown.

The funeral of Mrs. Joshua I. Morris occurred Monday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the home at Indiana and 14th street, says the New Castle Courier. Rev. Frank C. Hood of Madison officiated.The service was very largely attended by sorrowing friends, a number of whom were here from a distance, among them being Lennard H. Mitchell and wife of Lynchburg, Va.

At the conclusion of the ceremonies the remains, accompanied by the friends were taken to Knightstown on a special interurban car, where interment was made. The floral tributes were numerous and beautiful.
