"The Diamond Necklace," by Thomas Carlyle, edited with introduction and notes by W. F. Mozier, Ottawa, Ill. This is a small volume published by Leach, Shewell & Sandborn. Mr. Mozier is a native of this city and a graduate of the State University. He has devoted himself to literary pursuits, and is fast advancing toward the front in his profession. The introduction of the Diamond Necklace consists of a condensed biography of the life of Mr. Carlyle. The suggestion as to the method of study and the critical notes indicate research and adaptability to the task undertaken.
Iowa City takes pride in the success of its former townsman and will watch his career with great interest.

An Ottawa, Ill., paper gives an account of the recent visit of Prof F. C. L. Van Steenderen of Lake Forest university to Ottawa high school on an inspecting tour. Prof. Van Steenderen, who was formerly of the department of Romance languages of the university here, found that Principal Mozier is doing a great work in the Ottawa high school. He said that judged by the work being done no high school in norther[n] Illinois equals that at Ottawa. Principal Mozier is well known here, this having been formerly his home.
