REYNOLDS-WEDDELL

At the home of the bride's father, S. S. Weddell, in Ashland, on Tuesday, September 30, Mr. Eugene Hodgson Reynolds and Miss Linnie M. Weddell, both of Ashland, were married.

Th Rev. J. J. Penny officiated, assisted by the Rev. W. F. Smith. The happy ceremony was performed in the presence of a few of the relatives of the contracting parties. The bride and groom were the recipients of a goodly number of fine presents. They will be at home in Ashland.

The Gazette extends its best wishes for long, harmonious and happy lives of wedded bliss for this excellent young people.

E. H. REYNOLDS DIES SUDDENLY AT MAYWOOD

Services for Former Ashland Resident Held Friday

Eugene Hodgson Reynolds, son of George Robert and Laura Stanley Reynolds, was born at Ashland April 10, 1879 and passed away at Maywood, Nebr. March 20, 1940 at the age of 60 years, 11 months and 10 days.

He grew to young manhood in Ashland and vicinity and was united in marriage with Linnie Meddel Sept. 30, 1902. Seven children were born to them, two of whom preceded their father in death, Dale, 1 1/2, and Esther Wickard, 24. Surviving are Harold of Denver, Robert Scott and Vernon, Lance Creek, Wyo., Bion Joseph of St. Francis, Kas. and Mrs. Bernice Wickard of Minatare.

The family moved to Bayard in 1907. He engaged in business and followed his trade as mechanic in various localities, having moved to Maywood in February, 1938.

He had been ailing several weeks, though worked the last day of his life, when the end came quite suddenly.

Other relatives who survive are his wife, the former Mrs. Bert Quirk Reynolds to whom he was married in January, 1930; eight grandchildren; one sister, Miss Marion Reynolds; two brother, Myron and Howard, all of Bayard. One sister, Mrs. Ginevra Hapgood, passed away in 1934. There are also other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held in Maywood Friday and a brief service in Bayard Saturday, conducted by Rev. John E. Grasty of the Christian church. Interment was in the family plot in the Bayard cemetery.

He was loved by all who knew him for his generosity and love of his fellow men.

Obituary

A brief funeral service for Eugene H. Reynolds, 60, was held at Bayard Saturday, Rev. John E. Grasty officiating. Wayne Carroll, accompanied by Mrs. J. C. Lewellen of Minatare, sang.

A service was held Friday at Maywood, where he passed away after several weeks illness. He had apparently been improving and had been at work as mechanic the last day of his life.

He was born at Ashland, Nebr., April 10, 1879, where he spent his young manhood and was married on September 30, 1902, to Miss Linnie Weddell. To them seven children were born, two having preceded their father in death. Surviving children are Harold of Denver; Scott and Vernon of Lance Creek, Wyo.; Bion of St. Francis, Kans.; and Mrs. Bernice Wickard of Minatare; and eight grand-children. The family came to western Nebraska in 1907, where he went into business, and he followed his trade in various localities, moving to Maywood in 1938.

He was united in marriage to Mrs. Bess Quirk in 1930, who survives him. Other relatives are a sister, Miss Marion Reynold, two brother, Myron and Howard Reynolds, all of Bayard.

Mrs. Linnie Rutter

Mrs. Linnie Rutter, 87, died Thursday at a Gering rest home. She was born May 5, 1881, at Newton, Kan.

She moved with her parents to Ashland where she attended school. After her mother's early death she helped raise her brothers and sisters.

She married Eugene Reynolds Sept. 20, 1902 at Ashland. She and her family came to Bayard in 1906 where they homesteaded, ran a blacksmith shop and Mr. Reynolds was deputy sheriff during World War I. They moved to Minatare in 1921.

On May 23, 1929 she married Curt Rutter at Minatare. He died in April of 1945. She was a member of the Minatare Church of Christ, a charter member and gold star member of the War Dads auxiliary, gold star member of the American legion Auxiliary, Quarter Century Club and the Pioneer Birthday Club.

Survivors include two sons, Robert S. Reynolds of Minatare, Bion J. Reynolds of St. Francis, Kan.; one daughter, Mrs. Frank Wickard of Melbeta; two brothers, Joe Weddell of Loveland, and Jess Weddell of Bayard; one sister, Mrs. Dessa McDole of Des Moines, Iowa, 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sons and one daughter.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Minatare Church of Christ with Marven Ellwanger officiating. Burial will be i the East Lawn Cemetery at Minatare. The Boley-Dennis Funeral Home of Gering is in charge of arrangements.

OBITUARY

Dale Stanley Reynolds, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Reynolds was born January 19, 1916, and died August 9, 1917, after a brief illness. The little fellow had been ailing a few days, but his condition was not considered alarming.

The funeral servcies were held Saturday morning conducted by Rev. C. H. Burrill of the Baptist church and the little body, amid a profusion of flowers, was laid to rest.
