FORMER DAVENPORTER WEDS LAKE FOREST GIRL

An announcement of interest to tri-city friends of the bridegroom is that of the marriage of Miss Margaret Russell Bremner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Robert Bremner of Lake Forest, Ill., to Mr. James Donald Scott, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry V. Scott of Chicago, formerly of Davenport, which was solemnized on Saturday, April 25, in Lake Forest.

Mr. Scott resided in Davenport until several years ago when his father, who is now a lumber broker in Chicago, was general manager of the Gordon-Van Tine Co. here. He attended the Davenport high school and after his graduation from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor became associated with an advertising concern.

Bull Fight Will Be Feature of Mexican Party on N. Shore

Chicagoans Arrange Many Novel Entertainments for Visitors Attending World's Fair.

EVERY ONE seems to be thinking of something different to do in the way of entertaining these days, and the results are many good parties. During the early summer everything centered around the Fair, but now that it isn't so much of a novelty, society is settling down to its usual summer routine and there are all sorts of informal, gay parties. Out of town guests always are a good excuse for entertaining, and certainly there never were so many visitors in Chicago as there are now, unless it was in those days of '93 which we hear so much about this summer from those who like to "reminisce."

One of the most original parties we've heard about is a Mexican fiesta the Cushman Brewer Bissells and the J. Donald Scotts are giving Saturday night in the Scotts' residence in Lake Forest for "Don Juan Ryan and Senora Juanita Ryan." "Don Juan and Senora Juantia" are Mr. and Mrs. John R. Ryan of Philadelphia, and Mrs. Ryan, Mrs. Bissell and Mrs. Scott are all sisters.

A bullfight is to be the main event of the entertainment, with several of the hosts' friends playing the part of the bull and the horse as well as the matador and picadors. The arena is being set up outdoors and all guests have been asked to wear Mexican or Spanish costumes.

On One Family Calendar:

Debut, 2 Weddings in 8 Months

Not many families are called upon to cope with two weddings and a debut in an eight-month period, but that is the fate of the J. Donald Scotts of Wilmette. Their daughter, Heather, was married recently in New York City to Alfred William Boshardt, and their son, Gordon Stewart Scott, will take a bride in August. She is Miss Sandra Leigh Ray, whose parents, the William E. Rays of Glenview, are announcing the engagement.

Miss Ray was graduated from Barat college, and Mr. Scott attends Brown university.

The debutante in the Scott family is their youngest child, Miss Mallory Scott. She will share an old fashioned three generation tea June 26 in the Saddle and Cycle club with her cousin, Miss Brooke Bremner, daughter of the junior James R. Bremners. The senior Mr. and Mrs. Bremner, who now live in LaJolla, Cal., will miss the party. They celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary Tuesday.

The elder M. Bremner's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. David F. Bremner of East Pearson street, will celebrate the 64th anniversary of their Jan. 25 wedding at a family gathering Sunday, Jan. 27, in the Winnetka home of one of their sons, Edward Bremner, and his wife.

Busy Summer

The summer months have been busy for the J. Donald Scotts of Wilmette, who will move to LaJolla, Cal., after the marriage of their son, Gordon, and Miss Sandra Leigh Ray—daughter of the William E. Rays of Glenview—on Aug. 17. The Scotts' daughter, Mallory, who made her debut in June, hasn't decided whether she will remain in Chicago or move to California with her parents, but she plans to enter a nurses' training school in the fall.

Mrs. Scott finds it is "difficult to pick up and leave Chicago, but we expect to be back often—we just couldn't sever all connections here." Mrs. Scott's father, James R. Bremner, is living in La Jolla, and her sister and brother-in-law, the Cushman B. Bissells of Winnetka, have a home there.
