Will and Probate for Abel Shed
Cheshire County, New Hampshire, December, 192112763
In the Name of God, Amen.
I Abel Shedd being of sound disposing mind & memory but by sickness reminded of approaching death make & ordain this as my Last Will & Testametn. I resign my body to God to be returned to the dust by a decent Christian burial, & my soul to the Almighty Redeemer trusting that He will restore both soul & body from the power of death & the grave. With respect to the worldy property which God has committed to me after the payment of all debts and funeral charges.
1st to my beloved wife Ruth Shedd I hereby bequeath all my money, notes, bank accounts, furniture and cloathing excepting what is otherwise disposed of.
2nd - bequest to son Abel Shedd was crossed out, presumably because his son Abel Shedd Jr. died before his father.
3ly to my beloved grandaughter Deborah Shedd I hereby bequeath one bed & bedstead & one table to be chosen by her self — also three pair of sheets — six pair of pillow cases — half dozen towels, two table cloths — three blankets one ? bed quilt & half dozen silver tea spoons.
4ly It is my further will that whatever property is left after the decease of my beloved wife be equally divided between my chidlren Abel, John, Samuel, Ebenezer, Henry, Josiah & Timothy or the legal representatives of such of them as are not or may not then be living.
I hereby revoke all former Wills & declare this my Last Will & Testament of which I constitute Ezra Thomas Esq. my sole executor.
In witness whereof I have herunto set my hand & seal this eighteenth day of Sept in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & nineteen.
The above erasures made before signing.
Signed sealed & published by the sd Abel Shedd as his Last Will & Testament.
