CLINTON, Aug 26 — Charles H. Shedd, assistant paymaster of the Lancaster mills and for many years a prominent resident and town official, died last evening at his home on Chestnut st of the results of a shock suffered on Sunday, complicated by brights disease.

He was born in this town July 24, 1853, a son of Mr and Mrs Henry Shedd. His father died many years ago, and his aged mother is the only survivor of the family. As a boy he attended the local schools and when a young man was employed in a drug store. Later, 36 years ago, he entered the employ of Eli Forbes in the chemical laboratory at the Lancaster mills, and afterward was transferred to the office, where he was clerk and bookkeeper and later assistant paymaster and had charge of all of the corporation tenements, being known personally to more of the operatives than any other of the officials.
