Short Biography of Henry Shedd

Henry Shedd, born in Mason, N. H., 17 June 1779, was taken the next year by his parents in their removal to Rindge, N. H., where his childhood was passed. He learned the trade of hatter and before he was of age settled in Salem, Mass. His health was poor and he went to sea in the hope of improving it, making a few voyages as a mariner to the West Indies, during the last of which he died in July 1802, at the early age of twenty-three years.

He married at Salem 30 May 1800, Sarah Bickford, born there and baptized 1 Aug. 1779, daughter of David and Anna (—) Bickford; like her husband, she was of frail constitution and she died in Salem in Aug. 1807.
