Russell C. Stambaugh

Memorial mass for Russell C. Stambaugh, 80, Coos Bay, will be conducted at noon Wednesday, Jan. 4, 1909, at St. Monica's Catholic Church by Father Joseph Beno.

He was born Sept. 5, 1908, at Minneapolis, Minn., and died Dec. 31, 1988, at Coos Bay.

A resident of the area for the past 26 years, he was the owner and operator of a service station and an auto parts store. He was a member of St. Monica's Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Stambaugh of Coos Bay; three sons, Nicholas R. Stambaugh of Eugene, Greg Stambaugh of Coos Bay and Eugene Stambaugh of Eugene; and two daughters, Michelle A. Stambaugh of Portland and Debra R. Hale of Coos Bay.

Services are under the direction of Coos Bay Chapel.

A memorial Mass for Mildred E. Stambaugh, 94, of Coos Bay, will be held at noon on Friday, Jan. 17, at St. Monica Catholic Church, 357 S. Sixth St., Coos Bay. Interment will be at Ocean View Memorial Gardens in Coos Bay.

She was born Nov. 30, 1908, in Chicago, to Michael and Rose (Mancuso) Gentle. She died Dec. 28, 2002, in Coos Bay.

In 1927, she graduated from high school in Minneapolis. She had a short clerical and office career in Minnesota before moving to California to marry Russell C. Stambaugh on Aug. 11, 1939. From 1939 to 1947, she was the head of payroll for the California Garlic Growers; Association. She moved to San Joaquin Valley (Delhi) for 15 years, and then in 1962, to Coos Bay, where she handled bookkeeping for a family service station and auto parts store until retirement. She then lived at St. Catherine's Residence until her death.

She is survived by her sons, Nick Stambaugh of Eugene, Greg Stambaugh of Coos Bay and Eugene Stambaugh of Eugene; daughters, Michelle Stambaugh (Tresch) of Klamath Falls and Debra Stambaugh of Tualatin; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
