Evelyn P. Stambaugh Jan. 15, 1932 - July 17, 2013

Evelyn P. Stambaugh, 81, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at her home in Sarasota, Fla. She was born in Converse Jan. 15, 1932, to the late Basil and Lottie (Turner) Booth. Evelyn married Wayne E. Stambaugh of Converse on Oct. 15, 1949. They had celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary before his passing on April 21, 1998.

In 1986, Evelyn retired from General Motors after enjoying 18 years of work at the Kokomo location. Evelyn was baptized and a Christian woman who cared for others, always putting their needs before her own. She had many interests, including reading, shopping, gardening, sewing and crafting, but foremost was spending time with her family. She attributed her long life to the loving support of her son, "Ronnie," with whom she spent her final years, as they took care of each other. Evelyn also received support from other family members, Linda and Rodger Smith, along with Brenda Stambaugh. Evelyn will live in our hearts forever, her love of family inspiring us always.

She is survived by her youngest son, Ronald D. Stambaugh, Sarasota, Fla.; son Basil (Judy) Stambaugh, Greenwood; daughter-in-law, Brenda Lou Stambaugh; two nieces, Linda Smith and Lona Hoover with their husbands Rodger and Tom; three grandchildren, Craig, Bradley and Jennifer Stambaugh, along with four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by son, Wayne R. Stambaugh on Nov. 21, 2002; brothers, Lawrence and Dallas Stambaugh; and a sister, Audrey.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Converse Cemetery, Converse, with the Rev. Donald Brenneman officiating. There will be no visitation.

Local arrangements are being handled by the Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, Larrison-Martin Chapel, 308 E. Marion St., Converse.
