Howell Funeral To Be Thursday

COQUILLE, March 17—(Special)—Funeral services for Lyle "Shady" Howell, who died here Monday, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Schroeder funeral home, followed by burial in the Masonic cemetery. The Rev. Lawrence Guderian will officiate.

Howell is survived by: his widow, Mrs. Fairy Howell; four children, Thomas L. Howell of Quincy, Calif., Mrs. Bertha Tagliblento and Mrs. Gerry Waisaner of Astoria and Woodrow Howell of Grants Pass; three stepchildren, Richard Gregory of Monmouth, Sherman Gregory of Coquille and Mrs. Marion Johnson of Coquille; a brother, Wardlow Howell of Quincy, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Dica LeBlanc of Salem, Mrs. Elma Edsall and Mrs. Opal Roberts of Coquille; three grandchildren.

Woodrow Houston Howell

May 25, 1926 - March 1, 2003

A memorial service for Woodrow Houston Howell, 76, of Medford, will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, at the United Methodist Church in Talent. James Nathan will officiate.

He was born May 25, 1926, in Millington, the son of Lyle and Noma Howell. He died March 1, 2003, in Medford.

On Dec. 20, 1947, he married Neva Hultman in Grants Pass. Mr. Howell had served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a ship's service man L second class. He had been a lineman and foreman for Pacific Power and Light for 37 years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and had been a professional bass fiddler in a band. Mr. Howell had lived in the Rogue Valley for more than 50 years.

He is survived by his sons, Steve Howell of Medford, Rick Howell of Coos Bay, Gary Howell of Roseburg and Tom Howell of Brookings, daughters, Cheryl Lemke and Cindy Lee, both of Medford; sister, Geri Storts of Astoria; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and companion, Joann Bergren of Medford.

He was preceded in death by his wife, one brother and one sister.
