Miss Gloriajayne Van Allsburg, whose engagement to Maurice J. Tierney, son of Mrs. Maurice Tierney of Chicago and the late Mr. Tierney, is announced by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John N. Van Allsburg of Kansas City, Mo., formerly of Evanston. Miss Van Allsburg attended Northwestern university and was graduated from the University of Kansas City. Her fiance, who was graduated from Northwestern university, served as a pilot in the army air forces for four years.

Van Allsburg-Tierney

The marriage of Miss Gloriajayne Van Allsburg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John N. Van Allsburg, and Mr. Maurice J. Tierney, son of Mrs. Anna Tierney, Chicago, took place at 5 o'clock Saturday afternoon, August 30, in the rectory of St. Peter's Catholic church. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. James N. V. McKay performed the ceremony.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of blush marquisette with a drop shoulder yoke and long sleeves edged with bands of lace. Her Mary Queen of Scots cap was edged in lace and roses and she carried a bouquet of blush chrysanthemums and roses.

Mrs. E. J. Van Allsburg, the matron of honor, and Miss Lois Ann Scott, the bridesmaid, wore gowns of aquamarine marquisette and carried bouquets of sweetheart roses and ivy.

Mr. E. J. Van Allsburg, brother of the bride, was best man and Mr. Charles Shanley was the groomsman.

A reception at Victor Hugo inn followed the ceremony. Mr. and Mrs. Tierney left for a honeymoon in New Orleans and Florida. They will make their home in Chicago.
