Robert E. Walda Fort Wayne - 1920-2000

Robert E. Walda, 80, of Fort Wayne, founder/owner of Central Foundry, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000, at Parkview Hospital.

The Fort Wayne native retired in 1982 after 35 years of service. He was a member of Trinity English Lutheran Church, Summit City Lodge 170, Scottish Rite, Mizpah Shrine, Jesters, American Legion Post 296 and had served in U.S. Army. He was one of the first chairmen of Three Rivers Festival Committee and served on the board of Fort Wayne Children's Zoo.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Lou; daughters Leslie Carr and Ann Dammeyer, both of Fort Wayne; a son, Gregory of Littleton, Colo.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Trinity English Lutheran Church, 401 W. Wayne St. Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, Wayne Street Chapel, 420 W. Wayne St. Burial will be at St. John Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorials are to Matthew 25 Health and Dental Clinic, Fort Wayne Children's Zoo or Turnstone Center for Disabled Children and Adults.

Mary Lou Walda, 90, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2018 in Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, Mary Lou enjoyed caring for her family as a homemaker. She was a member of Trinity English Lutheran Church and DORCAS. She was an active volunteer for Elizabeth North Circle, PEO, Home Bound Meals, Lutheran Life, and her church. Mary Lou enjoyed playing cards with her friends at Fort Wayne Country Club. Surviving are her daughters, Ann (Tim) Dammeyer of Fort Wayne, and Leslie (Mike) Carr of Fremont, IN; 6 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Walda; parents, Walter and Amanda Vetter; and 2 brothers. Service is 10:30 am, Monday, January 22, 2018 at Trinity English Lutheran Church, 450 West Washington Street with calling one hour prior. Calling also at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Rd on Sunday, January 21, 2018 from 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm. Burial in St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Trinity English Lutheran Church.
