Irma Broeme Becomes Bride of Clifford Batson

Sherman—Miss Irma Broeme, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louie Broeme of Sherman, and Clifford Batson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Batson, were married Saturday afternoon by Rev. Henry S. Stevens, pastor of the Community Church of Sherman. The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Anna Marie Broeme. Leroy Baum was best man.

The bride wore a light blue silk dress, with pink accessories, and carried an arm bouquet of white lilacs. The bridesmaid was also dressed in blue.

Mr. and Mrs. Broeme held a reception for the couple at the Sherman Grange Hall, Saturday evening with about eighty guests present. The bride and bridegroom received many gifts.

Clifford Batson, Television Repair Man, Dies Suddenly; Services at Spitzer Home

Clifford Batson, 52, of Sherman-Stedman road, died unexpectedly at his home Thursday evening, Nov. 12, 1964. Mr. Batson was a television repair man.

He was born Aug. 28, 1912, in Clear Lake, Wis., the son of Willis and Lillian Mills Batson. He was a Veteran of World War II and had resided in Sherman about 45 years. He attended the Sherman Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Irma Broeme Batson; two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Emory, French Creek and Miss Linda Batson, Sherman; two grandsons, Clifford Foster and Wayne Emory, both of French Creek; two sisters, Mrs. Amy Schroder, Edinboro, Pa., and Mrs. Verne (Julia) Jenkins, Oil City, Pa., and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Spitzer Funeral Home in Sherman. The Rev. Fred Robb, pastor of the Sherman Baptist Church officiated and burial was in the Sherman Cemetery. Post Commander of the Norton-Raspas American Legion Norman Aikens and Lewis Baker, Adjutant folded the flag which covered the casket and Adjutant Baker presented the flag to the nearest of kin, the widow, Mrs. Batson. The deceased was not a member of any veterans organizations but the flag service was in respect to the deceased veteran.

Bearers were: Carl Soderberg, Charles Badders, Donald Webber, Jr., Malcolm Turner, Harold Johnson and Roy Robinson.
