Otto H. Lindstead

Otto H. Lindstead, 70, of 1225 Safford Avenue, a former industrial photographer in Detroit, Mich., died yesterday in the Fresno Veterans Administration Hospital after a long illness.

Lindstead formerly headed the photographic department of the research division of the General Motors Corporation in Detroit.

After a period of time with the Manz Printing and Engraving Corporation in Chicago, Ill., Lindstead moved to Fresno in 1952.

He bought the Acme Printing Company at 230 East Olive Avenue and operated it until 1959, when he solid it and retired because of illness.

A veteran of World War I, he served with the 16th Engineers in England and France. He was a member of the Captain H. A. Crow Post No. 884, Veterans of Foreign Wars, in Fresno, and the Fresno World War I Barracks No. 511. He was a native of Imlay City, Mich.

Survivors include his widow, Lucia of Fresno; six sisters, Mrs. Thelma Sommers and Florence Lindstead of Los Angeles, Mrs. Lenora Blank, Mrs. Claire Smith, Mrs. Evelyn Boldoni, all of Detroit, and Mrs. Edna Jurn of Imlay City; three brothers, Walter of Detroit, Martin of Toledo, Ohio, and Herbert of Parkersburg, VWa.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11 AM in Stephens & Bean Memorial Chapel. Cremation will follow in the Chapel of the Light.

Mrs. Lucia E. Lindstead, 75, 1109 East Ninth street, was found dead at her residence at 7:30 p.m. Monday. Neighbors reported that they had not seen Mrs. Lindstead, who lived alone, for several days. She had been in failing health for several months and her doctor attributed the death to natural causes. Mrs. Lindstead was born July 7, 1902, to Lucian and Leone McClung Savage in Macy. She was married to Otto H. Lindstead; he preceded her in death. She had been a Rochester resident since 1972, coming here from Fresno, Cal. She was a member of the Macy Christian church and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Surviving are a brother, Kenneth M. Savage, Macy, and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Foster & Good funeral home with the Rev. Chester Walther officiating. Cremation will follow. Burial will be at the Plainview cemetery, Macy. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today.
