Andrew F. Scott, One of Bank Founder's Descendants

Andrew F. Scott, native and lifelong resident, and member of Richmond's early families, died Friday morning at Heritage House. He was 85 and resided at 126 North Tenth St.

He was born March 29, 1890, attended Richmond High School, and graduated in 1911 from Earlham College. In 1913, he graduated from Harvard University Graduate of School of Business, after which time he was employed for many years by The Second National Bank.

He had also completed studies to qualify as a certified public accountant.

Mr. Scott was a livestock farmer for many years, and a lifelong member of the Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church, of which he served as treasurer for 15 years.

His family has a background in the United Presbyterian Church, stemming from the time when Andrew F. Scott Sr. was a member of the group which held services in the first house of worship on Pearl Street, now South Fifth Street.

It was to commemorate the uniting efforts and religious devotion of two faithful elders, the elder Andrew F. Scott, and William S. Reid, that the Easter memorial window was included in a gift to the church.

Mr. Scott is survived by one sister, Miss Martha H. Scott of Richmond, and cousins.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the residence, 126 North Tenth St., with Rev. Howard W. Stone, interim pastor of Reid Memorial United Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the residence.

Doan and Mills Funeral Home is handling the funeral arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wayne County Heart Fund.
