He married BLANCHE HALL on December 24, 1938,¹²⁹⁸⁷ daughter of CATHERINE WESTERVELT SHANNON and EARL CRANSTON HALL. She was born July 1, 1912 in La Porte, LaPorte, Indiana,⁴⁹¹⁷ and died June 24, 1992 in Madison, Jefferson, Indiana.⁴⁹³¹ She is buried in Memory Garden Cemetery, Rockville, Parke, Indiana.⁴⁵⁶

Memorial Rites Today for Hanover Professor

HANOVER, Ind. — A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Hanover College's J. Graham Brown Memorial Chapel for Dr. Samuel Clifford Adams, 59. Dr. Adams was found dead Saturday in his office, apparently the victim of a heart attack.

He had been professor of geology at Hanover for 26 years.

He was a native of Rockville, Ind., a member of the Hanover Presbyterian Church and a veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Blanche Hall Adams, and a sister.

Blanche Adams

Blanche Adams, 79, formerly of Hanover, died Wednesday, June 24, at a local residence.

She was born July 1, 1912, in LaPorte, the daughter of Earl and Catherine Shannon Hall, who preceded her in death.

A 1936 graduate of Hanover College, she received her master's degree in 1942 from the University of Iowa and received the Alumni Achievement Award in 1967 from Hanover College. She was retired from the Kent School of Social Work, University of Louisville. She was a member of the Hanover Presbyterian Church.

There are no immediate survivors. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel S. Clifford Adams, in 1971.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Vail-Holt Funeral Home Hanover Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
