Helen Phillips Married In Champaign

LE ROY.—(PNS)— Miss Helen L. Phillips, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charley T. Phillips of LeRoy, was married to Hobart E. Alexander, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Alexander, at 10 a. m. (DST) Saturday in the Champaign First Presbyterian church.

The Rev. A. Cartlidge, pastor of the church, officiated at the double ring service. Immediate relatives and close friends of the families were wedding guests. Mr. and Mrs. Garry Cottingham of Champaign attended the principals.

The bride chose a white ballerina length dress with white accessories. She wore a corsage of red roses. Mrs. Cottingham wore a dress of powder blue crepe with matching accessories and a corsage of pink roses.

Immediately following the ceremony, Mr. and Mrs. Alexander left on a wedding trip to Chicago. For traveling, the bride wore a brown and beige suit with matching accessories. The newlyweds will live in LeRoy.

Mrs. Alexander is a graduate of LeRoy High school and Illinois Commercial college in Champaign. She was employed in Champaign. Mr. Alexander also graduated from LeRoy High school and served in the navy for three years during the war.

Mr. Hobart Eugene Alexander, 74, of Belmont and formerly of Charlotte, died Monday, November 22, 1999 at Gaston Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Alexander, a son of the late George and Ruth Alexander, was born August 6, 1925. He was a veteran of World War II and during his military years served in the US Army and US Navy. He retired from Radiator Specialty in Charlotte where he was employed as a security guard.

Survivors include three son, Don Alexander of Bloomington, IL, Warren Alexander of Belmont, and Lynn Alexander of Leroy, IL; a brother, Bob Alexander, also of Leroy; one sister, Nancy Short of Farmer City, IL; and five grandchildren, David, Zeb, Melissa, Heather and Brent Alexander.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Alexander, in 1997.

Mr. Alexander's family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM Friday, November 26, at Hankins and Whittington Dilworth Chapel. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 PM Friday at Forest Lawn West Cemetery.

Arrangements are in the care of Hankins & Whittington, Dilworth Chapel, 1111 East Boulevard.

LeROY — Helen L. Alexander, 85, of Bloomington, formerly of LeRoy, died at 12:26 p.m. Friday (July 9, 2010) at Heritage Manor, Bloomington.

Service: Graveside at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Oak Grove Cemetery, LeRoy. The Rev. Tim Vollstedt will officiate. Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, LeRoy, is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation: None.

Memorials: May be made to Donald E. Alexander.

Survivors: Two sons, Donald E. Alexander, Bloomington; and Lynn Ray Alexander, LeRoy; one brother, Ralph Phillips, Eureka; and one sister, Georgia Ruth Drennen, Dewey.
