BROOKINGS — Robert Antonides, 64, a retired South Dakota State University professor, died Wednesday in his Brookings home.
Mr. Antonides was born Aug. 14, 1920, in LaGrange, Ind. He graduated from LaGrange High School in 1938 and attended South Dakota State University where he received his bachelor's and master's degrees. He also did graduate work at the University of Minnesota. He married Marion Etbauer Nov. 5, 1943, in Brookings. He was a professor of economics and an administrator in Extension Service at SDSU. He retired in May 1984.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II.
Survivors include his wife; three sons: James, Kansas City, Mo.; William, Faulkton; and Charles, Colorado Springs, Colo.; two daughters: Mrs. Gene (Patty) Buckley, Brookings; and Mrs. Arlie (Pam) Ellingson, Hetland; seven grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Otis Antonides, LaGrange, Ind.; and a sister, Mrs. Mary Hess, Sturgis, Mich.
Services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Brookings. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visiting will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday in Rude's Funeral home, Brookings.
