Ball-Burns Wedding Ceremony Performed by Father of Bride

Miss Virginia Burns, daughter of Rev. and Mrs.H. S. Burns of Bicknell, became the bride of Earl L. Ball of Richmond, Tuesday, Dec. 18, at 2:30 p. m. in the Baptist parsonage at Bicknell in a ceremony performed by the bride's father, pastor of the church. Mr. Ball is the son of Mrs. Hazel Bias of this city.

The ceremony was performed before the fireplace, flanked with seven-branch candelabra and two huge baskets of yellow and white chrysanthemums and pink snap dragons.

Preceding the ceremony, Miss LaVirda Johnson, pianist, played "Till the End of Time." The bridal party entered the room to the strains of the "Wedding March" from "Lohengrin."

The gown of the bride was a rose colored street dress, fashioned with a round neckline and insert of ruffles in the back of the skirt from the waist to the hem. She wore a gold necklace, a gift of the bridegroom. She carried a white Bible topped with a white rose corsage tied with white streamers.

Attendants for the couple were Miss Waneta Cotter and Eddie D. Federico, both of Richmond.

Attendant's Gown

Miss Cotter wore a two-piece lime colored dress trimmed in white lace. Her flowers were a corsage of salmon pink roses tied with salmon pink ribbon.

Mrs. Burns, mother of the bride, wore a dark blue crepe street dress and had a corsage of red roses tied with red satin ribbon. Mrs. Hazel Bias, mother of the bridegroom, wore a black silk dress with pink accessories and a corsage tied with pink satin ribbon.

Mrs. Ball graduated from Gosport High school and is employed as secretary to Major Rice of U. S. army at Jefferson Proving grounds at Madison.

Mr. Ball graduated from Richmond High school and he received his honorable discharge from the U. S. army on Dec. 10. He has been in the service for three and one half years and has served in the South Pacific area for the past three years. His rating was staff sergeant and he was entitled to wear five battle stars and the Good Conduct medal, plus several other ribbons.

Following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride. The table was centered with a three-tier wedding cake.

Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Ball, Miss Mineta Carter, Eddie D. Federico, Mrs. Hazel Bias, Mr. and Mrs. Pleasant Seaney, all of Richmond and Rev. and Mrs. H. S. Burns, Mrs. J. E. Carrico, and Mrs. Ted Brock assisted in serving.

Mr. and Mrs. Ball left for a short wedding trip and during the holidays will visit Mr. Ball's mother, here.

Earl L. Ball

Earl L. Ball, 64, of Fort Wayne, former Richmond resident, died Oct. 28 in Fort Wayne.

He was a native of Richmond and had lived in Fort Wayne for 40 years. He retired in 1982 from Phelps Dodge Magnet Wire Co. His wife, Virginia, died in 1977.

Survivors include one son, Steven M. of Ossian; one daughter, Patricia Love of Phillipsburg, Ohio; and four grandchildren.

Funeral service for Earl L. Ball was in Fort Wayne. Burial was in Crown Hill Cemetery, Salem.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association.
