A pretty party held at the home of Mrs. Nathan Bankhead last Thursday night served to announce the betrothal and approaching wedding of her daughter, Miss Louise Bankhead to Edwin E. Seely Jr.
Mrs. C. J. Lowrie, sister of the bride-to-be, shared honors as co-hostess with Mrs. Bankhead.
Miniature cards with the names of the betrothed couple, bearing the wedding date, November 17th, 1946, and a silver placard with the date in red letters framing a picture of the couple, were the means of revealing the news.
A large wedding cake centered the refreshment table, while tiny white and silver baskets, carrying out the bride and bridegroom motif, were given as favors.
After the refreshment hour, games were enjoyed with Mrs. Johnny Turner winning the grand slam prize. Various other prizes were won by several other guests.

The bride-elect is an honor graduate of Flagstaff high school and attended Flagstaff State College. She recently returned here from California where she has been employed by the Western Union. Mr. Seely, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Seely Sr., of Los Gatos, Cal., attended college in Salinas, Cal., and met his bride-to-be when he was stationed at Flagstaff State College with the V-12 unit in the Marine Corps. He served in the Philippines and in China, before receiving an honorable discharge from the service.
The young couple plan an informal wedding in St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Los Gatos.

A wedding of much interest to the younger set of Flagstaff was that of Miss Louise Bankhead and Edwin E. Seely Jr., which took place November 17, in Saint Luke's Episcopal Church at Los Gatos, Cal., in the presence of many guests and immediate members of both families with the Rev. Stanley Clapha officiating at the double ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Nathan Bly Bankhead of 6 West Cherry Avenue, and the late Mr. Bankhead, prominent wool grower and stockman of Arizona and California.
The church was decorated with bouquets of white and pink chrysanthemums. Tall white tapers in branched candelabra lighted the altar and wedding scene. White tapers in single candelabra tied with white satin bows marked the center aisle.
As the wedding music was played by the organist, Mrs. ?. R. Gustafson, the lovely bride entered the church on the arm of her mother who gave here in marriage.
For her wedding the bride chose an all white cheer wool afternoon dress, accented by matching accessories. With her small white hat she wore a shoulder length veil, and carried a white prayer book topped by a white orchid with streamers of white satin.
For the customary something old she wore a strand of pearls given her mother by her father, 25 years ago. The something blue, a tiny handkerchief, the gift of the bridegroom's mother.
Mrs. Clifford Lowrie, sister of the bride, was matron of honor, and selected a draped pink crepe afternoon dress with brown accessories, for her ensemble. She carried a French bouquet of pink carnations.
Ronald Lowrie, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer.
Donald R. Seely, brother of the bridegroom, served his brother as best man.
Carl Case and Desmond Jenkins were ushers.
Mrs. Bankhead, chose a dress of copenhagen colored crepe with black accessories, and her shoulder corsage was of gardenias.
The bridegroom's mother, Mrs. Seely wore a black and white checked two-piece suit with cerise colored accessories, and a corsage of gardenias.
Following the wedding, the guests were entertained at a reception in the home of the bridegroom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Seely Sr., of Los Gatos. Candles in crystal candelabras and pink chrysanthemums adorned the hall, living and dining rooms. The bride's table was centered with a large wedding cake. Miss Virginia Seely, sister of the bridegroom, Mrs. Karl Kurzbin and Mrs. Stephen Donohoe and Miss Roberta Lipton, cousins of the bridegroom, poured. Mrs. W. F. Baker, aunt of the bride, assisted with the guest book.
Immediately after the reception, the couple left for a honeymoon trip in San Francisco. For her going away ensemble, Mrs. Seely wore a gold colored three-piece ensemble with London tan accessories, and orchid corsage.
They will establish a home in Aromas, Cal., where Mr. Seely has a new home in readiness for his bride.
Mrs. Seely is a graduate of the local grammer and high schools and attended Arizona State College at Flagstaff. She also attended schools in Santa Cruz, Cal.
Mr. Seely is a graduate of Los Gatos high school and Salinas Junior College. He attended Flagstaff State College in 1943 while enrolled in the U. S. Marine Corps V-12 program. Later he was stationed in San Diego, and the Marine Air Station at Cherry Point, North Carolina. He saw foreign duty in the Philippines, Okinawa, and North China, as a member of the Marine Dive Bomber Squadron. He returned to the states in April of the year and received an honorable discharge.

Louise Bankhead Seely, the granddaughter of Flagstaff settlers William H. and Lorinda Anderson, died at her home in Bullhead City May 5. She was 66.
No services are scheduled.
Mrs. Seely was born in Phoenix June 18, 1928, to pioneer sheepman Nathan Bly and Alice Anderson Bankhead. She was brought as an infant to Flagstaff, where she grew up and graduated from Flagstaff High School in 1945.
She married Edwin A. Seely Nov. 17, 1946, and lived for many years in California, where she worked for the U.S. Army.
Mrs. Seely moved to Bullhead City in 1973 and operated a restaurant, The Burnt Bun, with her husband.
Mrs. Seely is survived by her husband; a son, Michael Seely, Aromas, Calif.; two sisters, Georgia Clare Hudson, Tucson, and Katherine Holley, Roseburg, Ore.; and three granddaughters.
