A pleasant surprise party was tendered Miss Minnie Tupper at her home at the corner of Illinois and San Salvador streets last Saturday evening. The evening was delightfully spent with games, music and conversation. Refreshments were also served.

Edwin E. Seeley, 71, pioneer in the berry and fruit industry of Monterey county and a resident of Aromas, died Sunday at the Watsonville hospital after an illness of a few weeks.
A native of Winters, Calif., he had been a resident of the Aromas area for 60 years. He was a past director of the California Prune and Apricot association, in which he had taken an active part, and a past director of the Soil Conservation association of Monterey county. He belonged to the Red Men and Native Sons lodges of Watsonville and the Aromas grange.
Surving are his widow, Bertha Seeley of the family home, route 1, box 69, Aromas, a daughter, Virginia, and a son Donald, of the family home, and another son Edwin E. Seeley, Jr. of Sacramento; a sister, Mrs. Jessie B. Axelson, Los Angeles; and a grandson Michael Edwin Seeley of Sacramento; and a niece and three nephews.
Funeral services are to be held at White's mortuary Wednesday at 9:40 a.m. and graveside services will be held at Oakhill cemetery, San Jose.

The Rev. W.A. Molyneux officiated at funeral services Wednesday morning at White's mortuary for Edwin E. Seely, prominent Aromas resident who died Sunday. Mrs. J.K. Dyche played organ music.
Active pallbearers were John Reid, Robert Reid, Will Reid, Bob Lipton, Carly Kurzlin, and Steve Donahue. Honorary pallbearers were Mose Hutchings, Harold Hutchings, Charles Stevens, Bill Spurgeon, W.B. Denny and William A. East.
Burial was in the Oakhill cemetery at San Jose where graveside rites were exemplified by the Red Men Lodge.

LOS GATOS — Funeral services for Bertha R. Seely, 93, of 140 Euclid Ave., will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Oak Hill Mortuary's Chapel of Roses, followed by burial in Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Mrs. Seely died Friday in a Los Gatos convalescent hospital after an illness.
Mrs. Seely was born in Indian Valley, Monterey County, and had lived nearly all her life in Santa Clara County.
She was a long-time principal of Saratoga Grammar School, with some 30 years of teaching behind her when she retired in the 1940s.
She is survived by two sons, Edison E. Seely of Arizona and Donald R. Seely of Los Gatos.
