AUBURN MAN KILLS SELF ACCIDENTALLY

Son of Late Harry Bigelow of Seattle Meets Death While Cleaning Pistol

Special to The Times.

AUBURN, Friday, May 13.—Clair Vivian Bigelow, retired marine chief engineer, was killed yesterday afternoon by a bullet from a 32-caliber automatic pistol which was discharged accidentally as he was cleaning it at a desk in his home. The tragedy occurred at a ranch a half mile southwest of Auburn while Mrs. Bigelow was preparing lunch.

Mr. Bigelow, who would have been 47 years old today, was a son of the late Harry Bigelow of Seattle. Clair Bigelow, with his brother, D. E. Bigelow, of the Puget Sound Engineering Company, Seattle, and his sister, Mrs. L. F. Body, Auburn, owned the ground on which the Bigelow Building stands in Seattle.

Deputy Coroner M. J. Lacey of this city pronounced the shooting an accident. No one was in the house at the time of the tragedy except Mr. and Mrs. Bigelow. The bullet entered his head.

Clair Bigelow was born in Seattle and maintained his home there most of his life. As and engineer, he went all over the world in ships. He retired from the sea two years ago and moved to the ranch on which he died.
