Funeral services fro Daniel Earl Bigelow, 80, of 1017 Minor Av., will be at 1 o'clock tomorrow in Butterworth's chapel, with burial in Lake View. He died Saturday in a hospital after a long illness.
Mr. Bigelow, a Seattle native, was reared at the site of the Bigelow Building, named for his family, at Fourth Avenue and Pike Street. He was graduated from Broadway High School.
Mr. Bigelow was active in the boat-building business until retiring a few years ago. He owned and operated the Leschi Boathouse at Leschi Park on Lake Washington.
From 1916 to 1918, Mr. Bigelow operated a water taxi service to Mercer Island and Bellevue. He opened and operated the first bank in Bellevue from 1915 to 1916.
Mr. Bigelow was a member of the Masons, Scottish Rite bodies, Nile Temple of the Shrine and the Knights Templar. He was a charter member of the Washington Athletic Club and an honorary life member of the Seattle Yacht Club.
Surviving are his wife, Lenna Kipling Bigelow; a son, Jack Bigelow, Seattle. and a daughter, Mrs. Mary K. Johnson, Hansville, Kitsap County.
The family suggests remembrances to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, Spokane.
