Bowerman-Babler

MRS. W. MAURICE BOWERMAN, formerly Muriel A. Babler, was married March 21 at Zion Lutheran church, Rev. A. L. Rubin officiating. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Babler. Mr. Bowerman is the son of Mrs. Bernice Bowerman.

The bride was given in marriage by James Caputo. She wore a white satin and lace dress with finger-tip veil. She carried white lilies and lily-of-the-valley.

Miss Mary Conway was the bride's only attendant.

Glenn Mortimer was best man and Robert Daugherty and David Bowerman ushered.

A reception following the ceremony was given at Catlin school.

Dr. Walter Maurice Bowerman

93, Sandy Hook

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at Sandy Hook Baptist Church for Dr. Walter Maurice Bowerman, 93, of Sandy Hook, who died on Monday, May 8, at his residence. Interment followed in Sandy Hook Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Ricky Daugherty and Bro. Michael Knippers officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until the time of the services on Wednesday, May 10, at Sandy Hook Baptist Church.

Dr. Bowerman was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army. After the war, he went to medical school and earned his degree from The University of Oregon in 1954. After graduating, he joined the Air Force as a flight surgeon. While in the Air Force, he also worked with NASA. In 1965, he went back to school and earned his degree in Psychiatry from Menninger School of Psychiatry. He retired in 2004 from the State of Texas where he was serving as a psychiatrist at Rusk Penitentiary.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Bernice Bowerman.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Bowerman of Sandy Hook; sons, Maurice Bowerman (Jeanne) of East Chatham, N.Y. and Hugh Bowerman (Elizabeth) of Blue Bell, Pa.; daughters, Amy Miller (Jeff) of Princeton, N.J. and Lynn Wilqucki (John) of Freehold, N.J.; sister, Muriel Ranum of Dublin, Ohio; stepson; Ross Hartford (Kim) of Brandon; stepdaughters; Michelle Reed (David) of Sandy Hook and Danelle Killingsworth (Ernie) of Summit.

Pallbearers were Matthew Stafford, Alex White, Bryan Dixon, David Reed, Ernie Killingsworth and Cade Killingsworth.
