Leonard B. Boyer

Springettsbury Township

Leonard B. "Bud" Boyer of Springettsbury Township died Sept. 20 from injuries received in a plane crash in Myrtle Beach, S.C. He was 73.

Mr. Boyer was a restauranter and was former owner of Bud Boyer Rath Skeller, Hellam Township, the Squires Pub at Queensgate, and Kell's Inn on North Sherman Street.

He served in the Army in the Pacific theater and in the Americal Division during World War II.

He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church.

He was a member of the Eagle Fire Co.; the Out Door Country Club; the Loyal Order of the Moose; Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks No. 213; Viking and Yankee athletic associations; the Hawk Gunning Club; the VFW, Hellam Township; and the 12th War Democratic Club.

He was a former member of the former Dutch Club.

Born in York Nov. 15, 1924, he was a son of the late Roy and Sallie E. Stiles Boyer.

He leaves his wife, Virginia Cover Boyer; two stepdaughters, Barbara C. Mann of Chester, Va., and Georgia S. Falson of Petersburg, Va.; a stepson, John G. Sayers of Petersburg, Va.; a brother Harold S. Boyer of York; one stepgrandson; a nephew and four nieces.

A brother, D. Wade Boyer, also died in the crash.

Funeral services for Leonard B. Boyer and his brother, D. Wade Boyer, are at 10 a.m. Saturday at Christ Lutheran Church, 29 S. George St. Visitation will follow at the Out Door Country Club.

Burial is private and is in Mount Rose Cemetery with military rites by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.
