Burkey

William I. Burkey 59 years of 67 Second St., West Fairview died suddenly Wednesday at San Juan Hospital, Carmicle, California. He attended the United Methodist Church of West Fairview, retired West Shore businessman having owned and operated his own auto repair business for 36 years. Former Mayor of West Fairview, president of Fairland Corp., a member of CCNB advisory board, a member of Robert Burns lodge No. 464, the West Shore area Chamber of Commerce, president of the West Fairview Lions Club, treasurer of West Fairview Citizens Committee, a member of the advisory committee Cumberland-Perry Technical School automotive body repair, Goodwill Fire Co. No. 1, a member of the auto body association, the crime clinic of Greater Harrisburg, Lemoyne Gun Club, Mechanicsburg Sportsmen's Protective Association, the Budget Committee of the Tri-County United Fund; he was active in volunteer service for the American Red Cross. Active for many years in the Keystone area council Boy Scouts of America, Club Master of Troup pack No. 50, member of the West Shore District Committee and the Order of the Arrow, and has received the Order of Merit from the West Shore District. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Evelyn G. Burkey, a son William E. Burkey, Enola, a daughter, Mrs. Shirley A. Shatto, West Fairview, his mother Mrs. Oda M. Burkey, West Fairview and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday 2 p.m. from the Richardon Funeral home, 29 South Enola Drive, Enola with the Reverend Harold O. Sipe officiating. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 7 to 0 at the funeral home. Masonic services at 8 p.m.

Evelyn G. Burkey

Evelyn G. Burkey, 94, of West Fairview, died Tuesday at the Golden Living Center.

She was a retired clerk for the New Cumberland Army Depot with over 40 years of service. She was a former member of the West Fairview Lions Club Ladies Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William I. Burkey, and a daughter, Shirley A. Shatto.

Surviving are a son, William E. Burkey of West Fairview; a brother, Earl Brinton of Maryland; a sister, Mildred Crawford of Florida; 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the Sullivan Funeral Home, Enola. Viewing will be held Friday from 10 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park.
