Robert O. Burns

West York

Robert O. Burns, 90, died Thursday, December 18, 2003, at York Hospital. He was the husband of L. Frances (Cook) Burns, with whom he celebrated a 46th wedding anniversary this past September 1st.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Geiple Funeral Home Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock. Burial will be in Christ Lutheran Church Cemetery, Shrewsbury. A viewing will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Officiating at the service will be Pastor Dwayne L. Campbell, assisted by Pastor William Farrell, both of the First Assembly of God Church, York.

Mr. Burns was born September 5, 1913, in Glen Rock, a son of the late William Burns and Beulah M. (Wagner) Burns Gantz.

He was a Supervisor in Quality Assurance for many years with York International, York, until his retirement in 1978. He also enjoyed a hobby of watch and clock repair for many years and had attended the First Assembly of God Church.

Besides his wife, he also lives a daughter, Lucille K. Eberly of Thomasville; a son, Robert O. Burns Jr. of Harrisburg; three grandchildren, Donald R. Eberly II, Lisa L. Terrill and Deborah E. Barry; four great grandchildren; two sisters, Murial C. Miller of York and Julia Holland of South Pasadena, Fla.; and a brother, William E. Burns of Champaign, Ill. A sister, Marion Redmond, is deceased.

L. Frances Burns

YORK - Lenore Frances (Cook) Burns, 93, formerly of West York, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at Normandic Ridge Nursing Center, York. She was the wife of the late Robert O. Burns, Sr.

Frances was born on October 28, 1927, in York and was a daughter of the late Charles S. and Maud F. (Geiselman) Cook.

Mrs. Burns attended West York High School and graduated from Zion Bible College in Providence, Rhode Island. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in York, and had worked at Dentsply International in York for many years.

She leaves behind a stepson, Robert O. Burns, Jr. of Harrisburg; 3 grandchildren, Lisa L. Eberly-Terrill, Donald R. Eberly, II, and Deborah E. Burns-Barry; 4 great-grandchildren, Tabitha M. Wolfrays-King, Nichole E. Barry, Joseph R. Barry, and Elizabeth R. Barry; two great-great-granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her stepdaughter Lucille K. Burns-Eberly; 4 brothers Joseph W. Cook, Arthur C. Cook, Robert J. Cook, and Charles J. Cook; and two sisters-in-law Donnye Cook and Muriel C. Miller.

Public viewing will be held on Tuesday, September 7, from 11:00 AM until a funeral service begins at 1:00 PM at Geiple-Predicce Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock. Burial will follow in Christ Lutheran Church Cemetery, Shrewsbury.
