He married SARAH POAGE CALDWELL on December 5, 1917 in Second Presbyterian Church, Roanoke County, Virginia.⁹⁹⁶⁴ She was born August 2, 1892 in Wytheville, Virginia,⁵³³⁵ and died December 2, 1983 in South Roanoke Nursing Home, Roanoke, Virginia.⁵³³⁵ She is buried in Evergreen Burial Park, Roanoke, Virginia.⁴⁵⁶

Attends Wedding—

Mrs. H. M. McIlhany, of this city, was in Roanoke Wednesday evening to attend the wedding of her nephew Dr. W. W. S. Butler Jr., to Miss Sarah Poage Caldwell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. M. Caldwell, of that city, which was celebrated in the Second Presbyterian church Wednesday evening at 9 o'clock. The Rev. Arthur Rowbotham performed the ceremony.

After an extended bridal tour, Dr. and Mrs. Butler will be at home in Roanoke.

Miss Caldwell is one of the most popular and interesting girls of Roanoke's youngest set and Dr. Butler is a young physician of brilliancy and promise in his profession and of loving personality in his private life.

Dr. Butler, 77, Dies in Roanoke

ROANOKE, Nov. 30.—(AP)—Dr. William Wilson Samuel Butler, a physician in Roanoke for more than half a century, died Friday at his home here. He was 77.

Born in Roanoke Oct. 21, 1885, Dr. Butler was a graduate of the University of Virginia. He also received his medical degree there in 1909.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Sarah Caldwell Butler, two sons, Dr. W. W. S. Butler III and Del. M. Caldwell Butler, both of Roanoke; and seven grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at St. John's Episcopal Church with burial in Evergreen.
