Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur N. Carkhuff are rejoicing over the arrival of a fine baby boy, who has been named Paul Wilbur. THe little man put in an appearance Sunday and has firmly announced his intention of remaining permanently. He will make a splendid assistant of R. F. D. carrier for his happy father. Babe and mother are doing fine.

Marjorie Arletta Carkhuff of 2016 Elm died Friday at St. Anthony's Hospital in Denver after a lengthy illness. She was 69.
Mrs. Carkhuff was a homemaker.
She was bron April 10, 1919, in Montrose to Avery Woodard and Viola Ross Campbell. She attended schools in Montrose, Wilson Mesa and Sawpit.
She married Paul Carkhuff Aug. 22, 1940, in Aztec, N.M. He survives.
Mrs. Carkhuff lived in Redvale for 41 years before moving to Grand Junction six months ago due to health reasons.
She was a member of the Bethel Chapel of Norwood and the Women's Auxiliary at the chapel.
Other survivors include her mother, Viola Campbell of Norwood; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and John Gordon of Grand Junction; four brothers, Lyle Campbell of Grand Junction, Ross Campbell of Kingman, Ariz., Lyman Campbell of Redvale and Ervin Campbell of Olathe; two sisters, Naomi Dillon of Norwood, and Elizabeth Kinney of Canyonville, Ore.; and four grandchildren. her father, a brother, Willis, and two sisters, Sherma and Romilda, are deceased.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Assembly of God Church at Montrose with the Rev. Dennis Beckman officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Cemetery in Montrose.
Crippin Funeral Home of Montrose is in charge of arrangements.

Hazel Roark Brasier Carkhuff was born February 19, 1920 and passed away on December 15, 2007.
Hazel Pauline Roark was born in Ft. Smith Arkansas to Claude Roark and Camilla Eubanks Roark. She attended school in Oklahoma City.
After the loss of her mother at nine years old, she and her older brother John banded together to raise their five younger siblings.
Her family, friends and loving husband Paul gathered in their home and helped her peacefully pass from this life into a far better one to be with Jesus and departed loved ones.
Hazel spent many years in the nursing field. She is best remembered for her God given gift of giving and her love of God.
After becoming a Christian at a very young age, God gave her the gift of giving to others love, money, labor, food, song, whatever was needed.
She is survived by her loving husband, Paul, her daughters Jeanette Leighton, Sharon Holmes (Ed), sister, Thelma Ward (Lee Roy), nieces Joyce & Anita, nephews, Richard Rich (Kyong), Tom Wilson, Grandchildren, Randy Bishop (Nana), Janet Leighton, Shwana Chaffee, Larry Staats, Teresa Reynolds, Jeff Williams, Scott Williams (Angel), mel Brasier, Dustin Brasier and Jeanie Brasier; Great grand children, Nicole Adamson, Crystal Rae, Derek P. Garrett Chaffee, Payton Staats, Candice Leighton, Chuck Leighton, Shannon Bishop, Brandon Bishop, Matt Bishop, Shane Williams, Shellby Williams, Lester Brasier, Bret and Breanne Brasier, Great great grandchildren, James Uptain & Chandra Rae.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Brasier, Son Clarence Brasier, Daughter Camilla Brasier and a grand daughter Kiffany Davis and her son DJ Lopez, and her great great grandson Christian.
Services will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2007 at 2PM at the Lighthouse Church at 3502 N. 12th St.

Paul W. Carkhuff was born July 22, 1917, in Montrose to the late Wilbur Newton Carkhuff and Della May Tagg Carkhuff. He died on March 12, 2014, from natural causes and was preceded in death by his brother, George "Bill", and his two sisters, Marjorie West and Mary Baker.
Paul married Marjorie Campbell on August 22, 1940, in Aztec, NM. Their marriage of 48 years lasted until Marjorie's passing in 1988. Paul's second marriage was to Hazel Brasier, who preceded him in death in 2007.
Paul is survived by his daughter, Sharon (John) Gordon; four grandchildren, Leslie, Travis (Christina), Mark (Marian), and Zane (Maria) Gordon; seven grandchildren, and two brothers, Jim (Beulah) and Delbert (Doreen).
Paul led a colorful life that included a 30 year career working in various western slope coal mines, a tour of duty with the Army in the Pacific during WWII, and a prosperous farming career at the family farm in Redvale. In 1987, Paul moved to Grand Junction where he remained an active member of the community and the Light House Pentecostal Church until his passing.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Light House Christian Center, 3506 N. 12th street.
