Marriage Announcements and News

Hastings Daily Republican, March 22, 191111569

Former Hastings Young Lady

Yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock Miss Winifred H. Turner and Harris L. Cheedle, well known in this city, were united in marriage at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George O. Turner, the bride's parents, at 1304 White avenue. Rev. D. Luther Edwards of the Presbyterian church officiated at the wedding which was a very simple and quiet home affair. After the wedding refreshments were served, which were exceptionally delicious. The rooms in the Turner home were decorated with cut flowers and looked very pretty.

The bride and groom were recipients of a large number of beautiful gifts, fine linen and the usual elegant tokens of good will from the many friends. When the ceremony was completed every effort was made to hide the fact that the "newlyweds" had planned to leave the city, unbeknown to their friends, on the 4:00 o'clock train for Quincy, Ill., where they will visit for a short time with the groom's relatives. Their plans went amiss, however, and when the hack pulled up at the door, they were treated with showers of rice and a dozen or more old shoes were tied to the cab. They were met at the train by a dozen friends and pelted with rice until the train left.

The bride is a well known young lady of splendid character, beautiful, accomplished and charming. She came to this city four years ago frm Logan, Iowa, with her parents to make their home here. Shortly after arriving here she met the groom, Mr. Harris L. Cheedle, who is widely known in this city and valley, having lived here for the past six years. Their friendship soon deepened and grew resulting in a pretty romance. The groom is a prominent member of the Masonic order and is held in highest esteem by his hundreds of friends. He is a well to do rancher.

The bride and groom will make their home in this city upon returning from the east.—Grand Junction (Colo.) Daily News.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Turner, old-time residents of this county and has many friends here who will rejoice in her marriage.
