The funeral of Mrs. J. Hornby occurred on Wednesday afternoon at the residence of her sister, Mrs. Eben Leverett, Rev. Commings officiating assisted by Rev. Fox. The floral decorations were profuse. Those who attended from abroad were: Mrs. Lillie Turner, and son Glen, of Hastings, Neb., daughter and grandson of deceased who accompanied the remains to this place; Mrs. Alice Hornby, a daughter-in-law from California; William Hornby of Mt. Pleasant, brother-in-law of deceased; George and Herman Blake and daughters of Northfield, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Deering of Mt. Pleasant; Mrs. Belle Joy of Keokuk and Rev. Henry Henn and son Samuel, of Wellman, Iowa, all nephews and nieces of deceased. Mrs. Hornby was an exemplary character and beloved by all who knew her. She was born in 1822. The following was handed us for insertion: "We hereby tender our thanks to all those who have assisted and so kindly sympathized with us in the loss of our dear mother, Mrs. Rachel Hornby.
